Camping is a unique experience that allows you to get closer to nature. But when you’re a beginner and it’s your first time camping, it can seem a bit intimidating. Don’t forget anything before taking your tent and setting off on your adventure.

Cap Soleil is a master in the art of the night under the stars. We offer you 9 most useful camping tips for your first time.

1 – CHOOSING THE RIGHT CAMPSITE

We advise you to look on Google earth to verify that the land you covet is not on the edge of a national road.

There’s nothing worse than having the sound of trucks at dawn to make your stay miserable.

The ideal site should be on a plot far enough away from the road, and close enough to the sanitary facilities.

Because when you have to get up at night, well, you have to think about it: it’s better not to have 500 meters to cover!

At the Cap Soleil campsite, the sanitary facilities are sufficiently numerous and about 200 m from the most distant plots.

Prefer a location with some shade if possible. And make sure there is a source of drinking water nearby.

2 – INVEST IN GOOD CAMPING EQUIPMENT

It is not necessary to know if you are going to go back the next time or not, but investing in good equipment right away will save you a lot of trouble.

🛌 The mattress is paramount to the quality of sleep. And don’t forget the inflator of course. When you start camping, you like your little comfort. The comforter on the ground is for afterwards!

⛱️ You will need to bring an umbrella, because if you don’t have an awning, you could have problems at dawn with excessive sun.

⛺ By the way, think about the quality of your tent fabric: it must be sufficiently opaque, and thermally insulating.

3 – MAKE A DIET PLAN

Before you leave, plan your meals and snacks in advance to avoid making unnecessary impulse purchases.

You can do your shopping in our mini-market, in Cap Soleil. And take advantage of our barbecue areas to share: conviviality & grills, happiness on the spot!

If you have planned a larger food budget, then you can enjoy our restaurants and snack bar: go for pizza and a glass of rosé (in moderation and with pleasure).

4 – AVOID BULKY EQUIPMENT

Resist the temptation to carry everything you have in your home. Avoid bulky equipment, such as your appliance battery, and opt for lightweight, portable equipment.

A stove and some kitchen utensils, the exact number of plates and cutlery per person, which you wash at each meal.

5 – KEEP YOUR EQUIPMENT CLEAN

To maintain the longevity of your equipment, it is important to keep it clean and dry. Avoid storing your equipment wet and dirty, this can cause unpleasant odors and attract insects. Remember that heat rots food very quickly.

Dishwashing areas are located in the Monkey bathroom.

Cap Soleil offers you household products at the mini-market; directly in the campsite.

6 – BRING WARM CLOTHES

Even if you go in summer, the nights can be cold. Be sure to bring warm clothes to sleep comfortably.

🧣 Cold insulating fabrics like for example the brand Damart, are perfect to spend the night warm without too much thickness on the back.

This is the best advice we can give you, because a little cold can quickly ruin your stay.

7 – RESPECT NATURE

When camping, it is important to respect nature and minimize your impact on the environment. Avoid leaving waste on site. Likewise, plants and animals must be respected. If possible, avoid breaking the pollination chain by leaving the flowers on their stems.
