Stroll or hike, there is something for everyone! The towpath welcomes you, flat and relatively wide, often shaded, far from the noise of the roads. The numerous accesses allow you to adapt your discovery to your physical condition or your timing.

The walk along the Canal du Midi is probably the easiest and most accessible way to discover and contemplate the atmosphere and the natural landscapes of this remarkable work by taking advantage of the shading of the plane trees, within the setting of a pleasant walk with your partner, family or friends on the towpaths.
Still, only a few hikers, with loaded backpacks, attack the 241 km trail. It is likely that the monotony of the trip and the lack of slopes deter some walkers. However, hiking along the Canal du Midi is an experience to live. The beauty of the landscapes along the alleys of plane trees, along the water and the locks, and the meeting with the lock keepers and the many pleasure boats will leave you with incomparable memories.
Hiking can be partial, walking access to the towpaths or the greenway is numerous along the canal.
We invite you to consult carte touristique interactive du canal du Midi to explore the access that will suit you best.
You will also discover the places of restoration and other tourist service providers at your service so that your walk is as pleasant as comfortable.
If you have the soul of a hiker, we invite you to consult some  parcours de randonnée pédestre le long du Canal du Midi that could interest you.
